Lamar (5-2, 4-0) vs. Bellaire (6-1, 4-0) - 7 p.m. today, Butler Stadium

Lamar: The Redskins have a 14-game district winning streak and can clinch a playoff berth with a victory this week. They’re looking for their second straight undefeated district title, but Bellaire gave them their closest contest last year.

Bellaire: The Cardinals, who lost 13-7 to Lamar last season, have won six consecutive games since a season-opening loss to Brazoswood. QB Denzel Johnson rushed for three TDs last week but threw three INTs.

La Porte (6-1, 2-0) vs. North Shore (5-2, 1-1)7 p.m. today, Galena Park ISD Stadium

La Porte: The Bulldogs struggled last week against a winless Baytown Sterling team, surviving 14-13. Running back Keith Whitely leads the team with eight rushing TDs and two INTs.

North Shore: The Mustangs, averaging 13.7 points per game in their last three, continued struggling offensively last week, trailing West Brook 3-0 at halftime after a scoreless first half against Port Arthur Memorial.

Katy (7-0, 4-0) vs. Memorial (5-2, 3-1) - 7 p.m. today, Tully Stadium

Katy: Despite losing tailback Adam Taylor in their season-opener, the Tigers have been one of the most dominant teams in the area, scoring 43.6 points per game while allowing just 4.3. Brooks Haack also has 21 TD passes and no INTs.

Memorial: The Mustangs held Cinco Ranch below its scoring average two weeks ago and are coming off a 34-13 win over Katy Taylor in which quarterback Tyler McCloskey played his best game (two TDs passing, one rushing).

Clear Creek (4-3, 3-1) vs. Alvin (4-3, 2-2) - 7 p.m. today, Alvin Memorial Stadium

Clear Creek: The Wildcats look to rebound after last week’s 48-30 loss to Pearland, where they continued struggling to run the ball. They had 71 yards on 31 rushes and average less than four yards per carry this season.

Alvin: The Yellowjackets also are coming off a loss (35-14 to Dickinson). Their problem is a passing game that’s supplied just three TDs. Running back John McDowell has paced the team in yards per carry (9.0) and rushing TDs (eight).

The Woodlands (6-1, 2-1) vs. Kingwood (5-2, 3-0) - 6 p.m. Saturday, Turner Stadium

The Woodlands: The Highlanders lost four fumbles to Lufkin, which gave them their first loss two weeks ago. They rebounded against Oak Ridge, with QB Lance Miles looking sharp in his third start since winning the job.

Kingwood: The run-oriented Mustangs, who are 3-0 in district, can clinch a playoff berth with a win after a last-second, 34-31 win over Atascocita last week. They beat College Park in OT three weeks ago.
